A BRADFORD woman is taking on a fundraising effort to raise money for a charity which helped to save her stepdaughter’s life.

Alison Naylor, 31, from Allerton, will tackle a charity walk on May 28 around Ladyhill Park, to raise money for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.

Ms Naylor wants to show her appreciation to the charity for supporting her stepdaughter, Amy Torok, when she underwent a liver transplant earlier this year.

Amy, 11, has Alagille Syndrome, a genetic condition which can affect the liver.

Ms Naylor said: “Amy had a liver transplant in February this year, and was in Leeds General Infirmary for three weeks.

“The transplant has given her a better life, and we have noticed a big change in her since, before the transplant she was going a green colour, but now she is almost back to normal."

Amy’s liver was not functioning properly and she was on a lot of medication, before the transplant, but is now down to just three tablets a day.

Ms Naylor will be accompanied by about 14 children during the charity walk.

“We just want to raise as much as we can for the foundation,” she said.

On Friday, there was a surprise party for Amy, which was attended by about 100 of her family and friends and raised £446.13.

Some of Amy’s friends also organised a ‘dizzy’ penalty shootout in the park by Thornton Road on Sunday, to further boost the fundraising efforts.
