A GROUP of staff at social housing group Incommunities helped give a Bradford playground a makeover.

The team of joiners, plumbers, gardeners, apprentices and office staff helped out at The Eccleshill Adventure Playground charity, Harrogate Road, as part of a volunteering scheme.

The Incommunities team made a wooden shelter at the playground entrance, tidied up pathways, painted a craft room and toilets and cut back overgrown areas.

They joined businesses from across the country taking part in Business in the Community's Give and Gain Day, the UK's only national day dedicated to employee volunteering.

The charity re-opened the largest swing in the north of England at the Eccleshill site last month after repairs.

Michaela Firth, playworker at Eccleshill Adventure Playground, said: "We are extremely grateful to Incommunities, Business in the Community and local suppliers for supporting us.

"Their hard work will really make a big difference as the playground gears up for what is sure to be a busy summer ahead."

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities group chief executive, said: "At Incommunities we are committed to encouraging staff to get involved in volunteering activities as part of their self-development as well as enriching their own well-being."
