ANOTHER minicab has been stolen as the driver was outside the vehicle helping a passenger in separate incidents, it has emerged.

A silver Toyota Avensis was stolen from the customer car park at Morrisons' store in Mayo Avenue, Bradford.

The car belonged to a driver who works for A1 Wibsey. He was helping his passenger, a woman in her 50s, put her shopping bags into the boot of the vehicle but the thief jumped in and drove off just as the last shopping bag was placed into the car.

The car was driven off towards Manchester Road, where it was involved in an accident with another vehicle before heading off.

It was found in Yateholm Drive, Clayton Heights, Bradford, about an hour after it had been stolen.

The thieves had stolen the vehicle's registration and private hire plates. There was also damage to the door and wheel arch of the rear passenger side of the car.

Akeel Ahmed, manager at A1 Wibsey, based in Odsal Road, Wibsey, said: "It's shocking.

"Should our drivers not go out of their cars now to help our customers anymore?

"The driver whose car was taken is disappointed and heartbroken.

"He was doing a favour for his passenger by helping her put away her shopping bags.

"It seems like some scumbag was waiting for an opportunity to jump in a car. They must have been there for a while and then they have gone for it. It's a keyless car too.

"My drivers are now worried about picking jobs up from that Morrisons. They can't risk it."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed the theft took place between 12.40pm and 12.45pm on Sunday, May 1, and added anyone with any further information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting log 13160185782.

Morrisons did not want to comment to the Telegraph & Argus about the incident.

Earlier this week the T&A reported how another minicab was stolen from a Bradford filling station on the same day.

Mohammad Gafoor, 33, was helping a woman passenger fill a petrol can up at one of the pumps at a petrol station when the cab, also a silver Toyota Avensis, was stolen.

Mr Gafoor's mobile phone, debit card, his wife's debit card and a fare float of £50 were all in the car.

The incident took place at the Texaco garage in Great Horton Road, Horton Bank Top, Bradford, at about 1.30pm.

Mr Gafoor's passenger went into the petrol station's shop to buy the can, came out and asked him to help her fill it up from the pump on the driver's side of the vehicle.

When Mr Gafoor got out, the male thief jumped into the car from the passenger side and drove off in it.

Mr Gafoor, of Heaton, who drives for Cue Cars, based in Queensbury, has not been been able to work since the theft which he said happened in seconds.

Anyone with information about the stolen Toyota, registration GY58 FYP, has been urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
