AN AVIATION student, accused of being involved in two raids at a Bradford bank, today denied robbery and firearms charges.

Ahmad Junaid, 18, of Hope Avenue, Bankfoot, Bradford, pleaded not guilty to four charges when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court.

He was accused of robbing Paul Marsden of £1,730 in cash, on October 30, 2015; possessing an imitation handgun at the time of committing an offence, on the same date; attempting to rob a woman of cash, on December 2 last year; and possessing an imitation shotgun at the time of committing an offence, on the same date.

Junaid is accused in connection with two armed bank raids at the Nat West bank (pictured) in Fair Road, Wibsey.

A date has been set for May 16 for the start of a three day trial.

Judge Jonathan Rose remanded Junaid in custody until his trial.

The first incident of alleged robbery took place on October 30 last year, when an imitation black handgun was said to have been used.

The alleged attempted robbery, involving an imitation double barrel sawn-off shotgun, occurred at the same branch on December 2.

Bank bosses decided to permanently close the branch, to protect staff and customers, after carrying out a security review following the two incidents.
