There's plenty of events taking place in the Bradford district for you and your family this weekend.

Here's a list of ten events you might enjoy.

Workers’ play time is the theme of this year’s Saltaire World Heritage Weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Attractions will include a historic narrow boat, the Shipley Glen Tramway, guided walks around the village, historic displays, creative activities and archery. Read more here

  • Lord Mayor's Abseil

More than 50 ‘super heroes’ including the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Joanne Dodds, will abseil down the city’s McMillan Tower to raise money for her Spread a Smile Appeal on Saturday, from 10pm

The festival takes place in the Old School Room, Church Street, with fine ales and ciders on offer from 4pm today, 11am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. More details here

  • Vaisakhi Parade

MORE than a thousand Sikhs from across Bradford will take to the city’s streets on Sunday for the annual Vaisakhi celebration parade. It starts at 10.30am and roads affected will be Shipley Airedale Road, Wakefield Road, Leeds Road and Cutler Heights Lane. More details here

  • A Midsummer Night's Dream - A Play for the Nation at Alhambra Theatre

The Royal Shakespeare Company in association with Leeds Arts Centre and The Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, present A Midsummer Night’s Dream: A Play For The Nation. Performances at 1.30pm and 7.30pm Saturday. More details here

  • Keighley and District Photographic Association at Cliffe Castle Museum

The exhibition starts at the Cliffe Castle Museum on Saturday and goes on until 4 September.

  • India's Gateway: Gujarat, Bombay and Britain at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery

​Ongoing exhibition of photography, film and audio gathered in Mumbai and Gujarat. Includes archive pictures, objects and ephemera drawn from local museum collections and British Gujaratis themselves. On till 15 May.

  • Charlotte Great and Small at Bronte Parsonage Museum

The creative partner for Charlotte Brontë’s bicentenary year, Tracy Chevalier, designed an exhibition which, through objects and quotations, explores the contrast between Charlotte’s constricted life and her huge ambition to coincide with her 200th anniversary.   • Handbags and Gladrags at Bradford Industrial Museum

This display, running in the mill gallery until Sunday, makes use of some of the extensive textile and costume collections held by Bradford Museums and Galleries. Fashionwear and domestic textiles was an important part of the City's trade and reflects the wealth of those who lived here in the last two centruries.

Now it its fifth year and its new home the Yorkshire Art Fair on Saturday once again boasts up to 50 exhibitors. Artists, makers, photographers, prints, crafts, sculptures, gifts, cards and much more. Free demonstrations, fabulous tombola and raffle for Cancer Research UK.
