A GUNMAN opened fire at a Bradford house containing a family-of-four including a baby, it has emerged.

Two windows were damaged when a firearm was discharged at the brick-built semi-detached property in Dorchester Crescent, Holme Wood.

The family, a couple and their 11-year-old child and baby, were indoors when the attack happened, shortly before 10pm on Tuesday.

They were uninjured but left badly shaken by the incident.

Police said the shooting had been targeted but they are still trying to establish a motive.

Residents told of hearing loud bangs and a car screeching away from the scene.

Detective Inspector Richard Holmes, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said although there had been previous firearms discharges on the estate, the latest one did not appear to be linked.

He said: "It is being treated at this time as an isolated incident. It would appear to be a targeted attack. We are not linking it at this time to any other firearms discharges in and around the estate."

Det Insp Holmes said the family was in the house at the time of the shooting, which caused damage to the frame and glass of the kitchen window and landing window above it.

He added: "The people in the house were obviously shaken up by the incident.

"Any firearms discharge is worrying. We are keen to identify those responsible and the motive behind the incident."

Police said officers attended the scene after residents heard a loud bang and raised the alarm. They confirmed the damage to the windows was consistent with that of a firearms discharge.
