A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Rain, spreading from the west, will fall as snow above 200-300m for a time on Monday evening, giving a risk of temporary snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2cm and perhaps up to 5cm over high ground above 400m.

"There will also be a risk of patchy ice where rain, sleet and snow fall on frozen surfaces.

"Be aware that some localised travel disruption is likely, mainly over high level routes of north Wales and northern England."

The warning applies to West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.
