Diggers were on site at destroyed Drummond Mill today as the smouldering building still cast a pall of smoke over surrounding homes.
And many residents have yet to return to their homes said local businesman Marfa Ullah.
"I helped evacuate people during the fire and those who live close to the chimney have still not gone back," he said yesterday moring.
The mill complex in Lumb Lane, Bradford, was ravaged by fire on Thursday and a large central section of the main building collapsed.
Firefighters with five engines were on site yesterday with a demolition crew from Thomas Crompton.
Work to complete the demolition process and clear the surrounding roads of debris was continuing this morning.
Speaking just before midnight, Haroon Habib, from the nearby Sweet Centre, said a large part of the structure had now been demolished.
He said: "True history wiped out in two days.
"Just imagine the effort it took to build a building of such sort.
"I believe they are working all night to clear up the road etc."
Firefighters remain at the scene this morning and can be seen damping down parts of the building that are yet to be demolished.
