A Broadway development contractor has been taken to hospital after suffering an electric shock.
A spokesman said the external works contractor hit a shallow cable while working on the shopping centre development.
Following the incident, around 317 Bradford city centre properties were left without electricity, and some businesses and banks were unable to operate properly.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance after paramedics were called to the site on Market Street at 12.56pm.
Fellow workers said he was conscious and talking after the incident.
Shoppers in nearby Boots reported hearing a loud boom before the lights went out.
A Northern Powergrid spokesman said: "Around 12:54pm this afternoon, another company inadvertently damaged one of our underground electricity cables causing a power cut to 317 customers in Bradford city centre.
“We are sorry for the disruption that this third party damage has caused to businesses and homes in the area.
"By 2pm all customers affected were back on supply.
Northern Powergrid indicated that it is aware that the emergency services were at the scene attending to an injured person.
