Northern Powergrid is reporting around 317 properties are without electricity this afternoon.
The power cut has left some businesses and banks in the city centre unable to operate properly.
BROADWAY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTOR TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER SUFFERING ELECTRIC SHOCK
An engineer was dispatched to the city centre to investigate the cause of the cut and bring back power, which was restored shortly after 2pm.
A spokesman for the company said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and we hope to have everyone's power back up as quickly as possible."
