A MAN in his 20s was injured after his Renault Clio collided with a lorry and ended up on its roof on the M62 near Bradford today.

The crash happened at about 11.50am on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 26 (Chain Bar) and 27 (Gildersome).

A police spokesman said three out of four lanes of the carriageway were closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, causing tailbacks for traffic heading towards Leeds. The motorway was fully re-opened by 12.45pm.

The spokesman said the man suffered minor injuries.

A West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said the car was pushed across three lanes into the central reservation after he clipped a lorry.

The man managed to crawl out of the vehicle and waited on the hard shoulder.

"He was so lucky that he only sustained a minor cut to his finger," he added.

He said drivers on the other side of the road were slowing down to look and take pictures or videos of the upturned car, which was a concern to the emergency services as it could have led to further incidents.

“Luckily, on this occasion, they didn’t cause an accident,” he added.
