MORE than 20 elderly residents were evacuated from a care home tonight when a fire broke out in the roof.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the blaze at The Flowers care home at Snape Drive, Horton Bank Top, Bradford, after being alerted at around 6.30pm.
A fire service spokesman said staff had evacuated residents and no-one was injured. The fire, which had given off a large amount of smoke, was confined to the roof. The extent of the damage was not known.
The residents were allowed back inside later, the fire service said. No-one from the home was available to comment.
The privately-owned home offers dementia care.
