DRACO, the elusive snake that slithered away from an inner city farm, has been caught after more than three weeks on the loose.

The seven-year-old reptile was spotted in a pile of overgrowth and rubbish at the back of Hollings Terrace where it was last seen when it escaped from Prism City Farm in Girlington.

Suhail Mahmood was at a family gathering yesterday when he saw the orange and brown corn snake slither its way along a pathway between Dalton Terrace and Hollings Terrace towards Walker Drive.

The farm’s manager Katie Corfield said Draco often goes missing during the breeding season but never usually leaves the confines of the farm.

Tariq Hussain, 36, who lives in Hollings Terrace, caught the moment Draco was captured on video.

He said: "The man from the farm came to try to grab him but the snake was strong, it was trying to wrap itself round stuff so he couldn't get it.

"I think he's been there all this time hiding in all the rubbish and overgrowth that the Council hasn't cleared up at the back of my house for years.

"We'd have found him ages ago if it had been tidy."

No-one was available to comment at the farm today.
