A mother-of-six and her 21-year-old son have been warned they are going to jail for an attack on their neighbours at a celebration drinks party.

Samantha France, 42, and Jack Watson, 21, were yesterday convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Daniel Marley with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

France was found guilty of causing Mr Marley's wife, Anne-Marie, actual bodily harm.

The judge, recorder Peter Babb, rebailed them so that probation reports can be prepared before they are sentenced on June 25.

France's barrister, Ken Green, said she was the mother of six children and had no previous convictions.

Mark Brookes, for Watson, said he was also awaiting sentence for a separate offence of affray.

Both lawyers conceded that prison sentences were inevitable.

During the trial, the jury was told that violence flared at the Marley's home in the early hours of April 26 last year.

The families lived a few doors apart, on Blackshaw Drive, Buttershaw, Bradford, and had been friends.

Mr Marley said he suffered a fractured ankle when France and Watson attacked him in the kitchen.

The father-of-three said he was drinking Jack Daniels that night to celebrate getting a new job.

He invited France, her partner and Watson to join them and they turned up at about 10pm.

"Something was going wrong that night, I just had that feeling," he told the court.

He said there was banter about a pink shirt he was wearing and "someone got irate."

Mr Marley said he had been drinking but he was not silly and he had not fallen down drunk.

He recalled being punched to the side of the head and being slumped on the floor between the cooker and the washing machine.

He said he lost consciousness and then heard his wife screaming and remembered France stamping on his chest.

Mr Marley was taken by ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary. He had surgery on his fractured right ankle and he also suffered bruising to his face and injuries to his back and head.

Mrs Marley said France hit her in the face and pushed her into a cupboard, causing a black eye and a lump to the back of her head.

She saw France and Watson stamping on her husband and ran upstairs to ring for the emergency services.

Her 999 call for help was played in court during the trial.
