PEOPLE in Bradford are getting less than their fair share of public funding, according to a trade union.
But the people who are getting the lion’s share of taxpayers’ money aren’t southerners, but Scots, according to the Workers of England Union.
It has pointed to government figures which show that spending per head in Yorkshire and the Humber is only £8,610 per person compared to £10,152 per head in Scotland, because of the controversial Barnett formula.
Campaign director Eddie Bone said if Bradfordians were given the same money per head as Scots, it would see the district get an £805 million funding boost.
He called for England to get its own government, saying: “An English government with an English First Minister could be working hard in the lead up to the general election in order to redress this imbalance.”
