A PAIR of Bradford foodbanks have been given an early Christmas present through a collection of more than 400 food items donated by housing landlord Incommunities.

Bradford Central Foodbank, based Jermyn Street and Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank, based Girlington Community Centre, have benefitted from the Christmas collections.

Incommunities’ staff have been donating food items including pasta and tinned soup to five collection points they have set up.

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities group chief executive, said: “I would like to thank staff and customers who have given so generously to support families and individuals at this time of year.

“The contributions we have made to both the Bradford Central Foodbank and Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank will hopefully make a real difference to households in need.”

Lashman Singh, founder of Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank, said: “Incommunities’ wonderful donation is hugely welcomed."

“We are seeing an unprecedented rise in demand for our help with more than 10,000 food parcels sent out this year.

“Incommunities’ kind gesture will make a real difference.”

Lisa Seale, of Bradford Central Foodbank, said: “Many families and individuals are struggling to make ends meet and this time of year can really bring home this hardship.”
