A Morrisons employee has been charged with fraud after an investigation into the theft of payroll data from the supermarket firm relating to thousands of members of staff.
Andrew Skelton has also been charged with an offence under the Computer Misuse Act and another under the Data Protection Act, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Skelton will appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on December 2.
He is alleged to have distributed sensitive information without permission while employed at Morrisons' head office in Bradford.
David Holderness, CPS Yorkshire and Humberside, said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has been working closely with West Yorkshire Police in connection with this case.
"Having carefully considered all of the evidence presented to us, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence to charge Andrew Skelton with fraud, an offence under the Computer Misuse Act and an offence under the Data Protection Act and that it is in the public interest to do so.
"The defendant will first appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on 2 December.
"This defendant now stands charged with serious criminal offences and has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
