A DENTIST has told a jury his ex-partner made a false allegation of assault against him after he ended their relationship.

Jonathan Cape told Bradford Crown Court he did not touch mother-of-four Allie Winslade when she exploded with rage at his home the day after he finished with her.

Cape, 46, of South Parade, Ilkley, denies assaulting Miss Winslade and causing her actual bodily harm.

He is alleged to have banged her head on a door frame, pulled her hair and punched her in the stomach.

Cape told the court yesterday he had twice previously ended the relationship before finally telling Miss Winslade it was over, on June 8 last year.

He said he was "smitten by her initially" and they had been together for three and a half years.

But the relationship hit problems and, in March, 2011, he called police to his home in the early hours because she was screaming and he was worried about disturbance to neighbours.

Cape told the jury: "She was shouting: 'You'll never work again. You are finished in this town.'

"It was a barrage, a wall of sound."

By June last year, he decided to break with Miss Winslade for good because living "in a house of drama" was making him ill.

When Miss Winslade texted to say she was coming round on June 9, he was "waiting for an onslaught of some description."

She "exploded" in minutes of walking into his home, screaming obscenities and berating him about internet porn. He said he thought of calling the police again.

His brother, Nick, arrived a few minutes later and Miss Winslade collected her pet rabbits and left.

There was "no physical contact whatsoever" between himself and Miss Winslade that morning.

Questioned by his barrister, Kate Batty, he strongly denied being an alcoholic, a drug user or an internet porn addict.

The trial continues.
