A CITY centre bistro has clinched the first gold award in a new kitemark scheme to promote healthy eating.
Forsters Bistro and Deli, in City Park, cut the amount of fat and salt in its recipes, increased the number of healthy options on its takeaway menu and started displaying the calorie content of all its meal options.
It has now been awarded the district's first gold award in the Bradford Good Food Awards, an initiative to promote healthy eating run by Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Trading Standards.
Chief executive Sheila Philpott said: "We’re absolutely thrilled to be the first in Bradford to win a gold award as part of the Good Food Award Scheme, which links into the Healthy Weight Strategy for Bradford.
"To receive this recognition for our commitment to providing good quality food in a relaxed, friendly and spacious atmosphere, whilst being able to cater and tailor our menu to individual dietary needs, is really a credit to our wonderful staff team."
Chairman of the West Yorkshire Trading Standards committee, and Bradford Councillor Val Slater, said: "Forsters is my favourite lunchtime venue. I am impressed with their commitment to providing healthy, nutritious food."
