Employees at a Cleckheaton firm held a fundraising raffle to raise money for cerebral palsy sufferer Sam Bottomley.
Sam, of Mirfield, needs £35,000 for a life-changing operation that could eventually allow him to walk unaided. Employees of Flexitallic, raised £422 for the Wish to Walk appeal by running a raffle to win a giant Easter egg as well as selling Wish to Walk wristbands at the sealant and gasket manufacturer’s headquarters.
Six-year-old Sam was born with cerebral palsy, which affects his leg muscles. He uses a mobility walker to get around and using his tiptoes due to the stiffness in his muscles.
Sam requires an operation known as Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), which would release the spasticity in his legs and enable him to undertake physiotherapy to strengthen his muscles.
Due to the NHS not being able to fund Sam’s operation, his parents, Steve and Karen Bottomley created the Wish to Walk appeal in order to raise the £35,000 for the operation and aftercare.
