Theatre-goers queued around the block at the Alhambra for tickets for The Lion King, which went on sale yesterday.

The show, about a lion cub’s struggle, is coming to Bradford for seven weeks next year as the only Yorkshire stop on a UK tour. Based on the Oscar-winning 1994 animated film, the show is one of the world’s most popular stage musicals. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, it features more than 200 puppets, largely inspired by Japanese Bunraku puppetry, 700 costumes, spectacular effects and a lively score. Disney's The Lion King will run at the Alhambra from March 21 to May 10, 2014. Tickets went on general sale yesterday, at the box office and online, and a Bradford Theatres spokesman said the response had been “phenomenal.”

Tickets are on (01274) 432000 or thelionk-ing.co.uk.
