People are being urged to descend on Bradford city centre today for three events aimed at supporting the battle to stop the closure of the National Media Museum.

First, this morning, the ‘I Love NMM’ campaign, led by Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe, the Leader of Bradford Council, Councillor Dave Green, and culture portfolio holder, Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe will be going door-to-door asking people to join the campaign and contribute their comment or anecdote to build a collection which demonstrates what having the museum in the city means to Bradfordians.

Then, at midday, a public rally organised by Bradford West MP George Galloway will take place outside the museum. And, at the same time, a mass event arranged by social networking site Hidden Bradford will be going on inside the museum.

Coun Green will also lead a public meeting at City Hall in Bradford on Tuesday from 6.30pm.

Coun Hinchcliffe said the purpose of Tuesday’s meeting was to update people the latest development and where people can best target their efforts.

She said: “There is massive support for the museum, not just in Bradford but nationally as well. People are outraged that it is under threat.

“There are lots of good campaigns and activities. We thought it would be useful to bring it all together and see how we can harness it all so it has the best possible impact in Westminster.”
