A law graduate serving a six-year prison sentence for reaping £374,325 with a Bradford-based immigration fraud has been ordered to pay back more than £8,000 of his ill-gotten gains.

Yousaf Amin and his accomplice Sajad Khan, who was jailed for four years, were back at Bradford Crown Court yesterday for a confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Both men were locked up in November last year for ripping off vulnerable migrants in the city.

Amin, labelled the greedy and ruthless brains behind the scam, had available assets of £8,373, made up of money from banks accounts, an ISA and a car.

He was given three months to pay by Judge Peter Benson or serve an extra five months behind bars.

Khan’s benefit from the fraud was put at £15,000 and his available assets were £16.12, from two bank accounts.

He was given three months to pay, with an extra one day in jail in default.

Amin, 34, of Byron Street, Barkerend Road, and Khan, 34, of Whiteways, Bolton, drove luxury cars while fleecing migrants with their criminal company, Temple Khan, based in Hallfield Road, off Lumb Lane.

Both men admitted fraud and Amin pleaded guilty to unlawfully giving immigration advice.

Prosecutor Tom Storey told the court seven months ago that Amin had served a 15-month jail sentence in 2006 for offences under immigration law.

He was banned for life from being an immigration adviser after fabricating work permits for restaurant workers. Within five days of his release from that sentence, he and Khan were setting up Temple Khan.

Mr Storey said the business raked in £80,000 and Amin made £262,000 from a bogus company called Training Direct that issued worthless certificates to people taking courses for citizenship.

Amin was seeing up to 24 clients a day at Temple Khan.

One woman paid him £3,000 cash towards a £5,000 fee for him to arrange a marriage for her to stay in the UK.

Her ‘bridegroom’ knew nothing of the plan and she had to leave the country, losing her money.

Amin was driving a £42,000 Audi Q7 and Khan was using a £36,000 Volkswagen Touareg.
