Abbots Langley Parish councillor Leon Lay passed away yesterday afternoon after a long battle with cancer.
The Liberal Democrat councillor was a well known face in the village and first sat as chairman of the council 26 years ago and then in May 2010.
Mr Lay of Marlin Square was also committed to organisations in the village including Abbots Langley Cricket Club, the Garden Society and the Historical Society. His wife, Jane Lay also sits on the parish council.
