A retired vet prone to stumbling died after a fall in his garden that he kept quiet from his wife, an inquest has heard.
George Crabtree of Braithwaite Village, Keighley, only told nursing staff about his accident after being admitted to Airedale General Hospital with severe head pain.
His worried wife called an ambulance when the 90-year-old complained about his head hurting and was sick while watching TV.
Doctors diagnosed a brain haemmorage, his condition deteriorated, and he died on August 30 last year. The injury had resulted from the fall he suffered three days earlier.
Recording a verdict of accidental death, Assistant Deputy Bradford Coroner Tim Ratcliffe, told his wife she had done everything she could to help her husband.
