Silsden residents can have say on 1,700 new homes

Silsden residents can air their opinions on plans to build 1,700 houses in the town.

Local councillors will host a public meeting about Bradford Council's proposals in Silsden Town Hall on Tuesday, February 21, at 7.30pm.

The town council wants to get a wide range of views and comments to form part of its response to Bradford.

It follows a meeting between town councillors and officers in charge of Bradford's Local Development Framework (LDF).

The LDF, which is currently being prepared, will guide housing development across the district over the next 16 years.

Bradford Council claims up to 45,500 new homes will be needed and has identified 14 potential sites in Silsden for a possible 1,700 homes.

Town council chairman Chris Atkinson said: “We would like to encourage as many people as possible to turn up at the meeting as this will affect the development of Silsden for at least a generation.”

Town councillors also recently met officers from Bradford Council’s asset management department to discuss all its assets in Silsden.

This followed a promise from Bradford Council leader Ian Greenwood that the Silsden politicians would be involved in discussions about the future of buildings and land.
