An anti-nuclear campaigner has been jailed for not paying court fines imposed as a result of her activism.
Sylvia Boyes, 67, of Wimborne Drive, Keighley, had been campaigning at the Faslane and Coulport nuclear bases near Glasgow, Scotland.
The pensioner was jailed for 14 days by magistrates in Bingley yesterday for not paying fines totalling £1,159.
In a statement released on her behalf after the case, she said: "As a responsible person I must act to bring about disarmament. A necessary part of that campaign is to carry out non-violent direct actions at military bases. No government can continue policies without the active or silent acceptance of its people."
