A TENANT of Yorkshire Housing removed doors and carved chunks out of a window sill at his former home, heard magistrates.
Ryan James Simpson, 24, was the sole tenant living in a flat at The Farm, Keighley Road, Skipton, before being given notice to quit in February last year following a breach of his tenancy terms, the Skipton court was told.
After he left, it was discovered he had removed three doors and casing and damaged a window sill by carving chunks out of it, leaving the social housing landlord with a bill for £650.
Simpson, who admitted criminal damage between April 1, 2016 and May 2 last year, deeply regretted his actions, the court heard.
In mitigation, Keith Blackwell, said Simpson had been struggling with mental health difficulties at the time, but since then had moved to Keighley, was in a relationship and was looking for work.
Magistrates ordered Simpson, of Cavendish Street, Keighley, to pay £650 compensation and gave him a two year conditional discharge. There was no order made for costs or surcharge.
