A FALL from his bike and miserable weather failed to stop a Keighley man from finishing a cycle of nearly 1,000 miles for two good causes.

Ryan Anderton, from Beechcliffe, completed the demanding eight-day ride from Lands' End to John O'Groats last Tuesday. (August 8)

Money he has raised will go towards both the Andysmanclub community group, which offers a safe environment for men to come together to talk about problems they face, and CentrePoint, a national youth homelessness charity which has a base in Bradford.

Mr Anderton, 37, has so far raised about £1,300, but people can still donate to boost that total even further.

He said: "The cycle had its ups and downs. I fell off my bike on the second day. This was in Somerset when it was wet and slippery and I was going a bit too fast.

"I've got some cuts and bruises all the way down my right side, but I was able to keep going.

"On day four I got four punctures and fell way behind schedule. But I put a call out and was given a place to say for the night in Oldham. I made up the time I'd lost the following day.

"I felt extremely excited and overwhelmed when I finished. It was an amazing experience."

Mr Anderton has recently been appointed sales executive at Bradford-based workwear supplier Workwear Crew, which has been backing his charitable efforts.
