A RALLYING call has been issued to the public ahead of an annual fundraising extravaganza in aid of Manorlands.

Final preparations are under way for the Bronte Vintage Gathering (BVG), which takes place on May 13 and 14 in aid of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

And organisers hope the event will go close to matching last year's record-breaker, which coined-in a whopping £29,000.

"The amount raised in 2016 was incredible and it will be quite a challenge to repeat that result but we would love to get close," said Trish Wood, for the organising team.

"We have another fantastic weekend lined up, with something for all the family and activities happening all the time.

"There's a terrific range of attractions – a combination of new ones and annual favourites.

"It's all for a great cause, so we would urge people to come along to give their support and have fun at the same time."

The event is being held as usual on the showfield at Haworth Road, Cullingworth, on the Saturday and Sunday.

Making its debut at the BVG is the Stannage family stunt team, which will perform in the arena both days.

SMJ Falconry is returning and there will be a dog and duck show, terrier racing and dog agility.

Children's entertainment will include go-karts, quad bikes, a bouncy castle, slides and donkey rides.

There will also be a shooting range, archery, a clay pigeon shoot, funfair and RAF flypast.

Visitors can enjoy an Old Spot beer tent, food and trade stands and a craft marquee.

Police and a fire engine will be present.

Exhibits around the showfield will include classic cars, commercial and military vehicles, motorcycles, stationary engines and tractors.

A collectors' and machinery auction is being held at 5pm on the Saturday and there will be free, live music that night.

And an auction of donated goods will take place at 2pm on the Sunday.

Admission to the showfield costs £15 for families – two adults and two children – or £6 per adult and £4 concessions and children aged five to 16. Under-fives are admitted free.

Free car parking is available.
