FIVE cab drivers in Keighley were suspended from operating by police after their cars were found to be defective.
The private hire vehicle drivers were among those stopped and checked by police officers and a Bradford Council licensing inspector.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the enforcement action took place in Keighley on Thursday last week. He said: “As a result of the operation five drivers had their plates – allowing them to continue operating as private hire drivers – removed and suspended due to vehicle defects.
“Three fixed penalty notices were issued for the offences of using a vehicle with an expired MOT, contravening a no right turn sign and having a defective vehicle light. One driver was reported for summons due to having two tyres below the legal tread limit.”
