APPROVAL has been given to sell a small part of historic woodland at Park Wood, Keighley, to an adjoining business.
Copperwaite Fleet Management asked Bradford Council to sell it a strip of land next to its heavy goods vehicle maintenance garage in Parkwood Street.
Park Wood was given to the people of Keighley by the Duke of Devonshire in 1928 and the Council is the sole trustee for Parkside Recreation Ground, the charity which owns it.
The Council has now agreed to sell the land to Copperwaite for £15,000.
The decision was subject to tree planting to screen the nearby play area, a new public access to the woodland, and a restrictive covenant ensuring that Copperwaite’s use of the land did not cause a nuisance.
The purchase will be used to extend Copperwaite’s service yard.
