KEIGHLEY MP Kris Hopkins has pledged his support for young people with mental health problems.

He joined parliamentarians from all parties at an event in Westminster organised by mental health research charity, MQ.

New figures from the organisation show that four in ten people in the UK believe mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression are now an inevitable part of life.

More than 80 per cent felt not enough was being done to tackle mental illness and 68 per cent of parents believed that increased education about the issue could prevent suffering for future generations.

Mr Hopkins said: “I am happy to support MQ’s We Swear campaign. Through research we can get to grips with this growing crisis in young people’s mental health and build progress towards much-needed hope for everyone affected.”
