A TOWN centre camera has raked in almost £170,000 from drivers straying into a bus station exit lane.
The camera traps around four motorists every day at the left-hand turn into North Street from Bow Street, in Keighley.
Each driver has been hit with a £60 fine, with the camera providing evidence for £24,073 in fines over the past year alone.
Private motorists are allowed to turn right at the junction but the left-hand turn is forbidden, to deter cars using Lawkholme Crescent and Bow Street as a shortcut to avoid congestion at the Cavendish Street/North Street junction.
The figures were revealed in a survey of bus lane cameras across the UK by BBC England, which revealed that 4,000 motorists received fines each day. The most lucrative camera, in John Dobson Street, Newcastle, raised £6,000 every 24 hours.
