A PENSIONER was bowled over by a Steeton company's gift
Nancy MacDonald was unable to play her beloved bowls at Cambuslang Bowling Club, Lanarkshire, when a leg amputation meant she could no longer access the clubroom.
But after Acorn Stairlifts learned of the distraught 74-year-old's plight, it stepped in with a free fully-weatherproofed outdoor stairlift.
"It has made a huge difference to my life – I have my independence back," said Nancy, a member of the bowling club for nearly 30 years and three-times president.
"The people at the club are like family to me so having to come to terms with not being able to go there anymore was absolutely heartbreaking.
"I've written a letter to Acorn to tell them how thankful I am."
Company secretary Dave Belmont said the firm was delighted to help after receiving a phone call from Nancy's sister, Jean Blackstock.
"It became very clear how compelling Nancy's situation was," he added.
"Attending the bowling club regularly isn't just a hobby for her, it's a way of life and key to her maintaining her independence."
