A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a six-vehicle crash in Keighley.

Two people were taken to hospital after the pile-up, which happened on the A650 between the Victoria Park and Marley roundabouts yesterday afternoon.

One person was flown by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries, while another casualty was taken to Airedale Hospital.

Emergency services were called at about 1.10pm.

Fire crews from Keighley and Bingley, paramedics and police all attended.

The section of road was closed for several hours.

Investigations into the full circumstances of the accident – which involved a Triumph Stag, Toyota Yaris, Volvo V40, Ford Focus and two Volkswagen Golfs – are ongoing.

Watch commander Andy Quinn, of Keighley Fire Station, said: "Vehicles on both carriageways were involved and six people were injured in total.

"One person had been thrown from a vehicle and we administered first aid until paramedics arrived.

"We were in attendance for about an hour."

The accident caused long traffic tailbacks in both directions.

The arrested man, from Keighley, has been given police bail pending further inquiries.
