CHILDREN were transported to the swamp of animated film character Shrek as they played the role of fairytale characters in a musical version of the tale.
They took part in the show staged at Keighley Rugby Union Club. The musical was put on by professional theatre company Double Take.
Laura Judge, director of Double Take, said “The emphasis has firmly been on having fun, however we’ve had an enormously talented cast of five to 15-year-olds so the show went brilliantly.”
Actress Laura started Double Take eight years ago and, as well as producing musical shows she works in schools throughout Yorkshire teaching drama, confidence building and communication.
She also provides curriculum-based events, murder mysteries and behavioural management programmes through drama therapy.
She said: “Through the creative mediums drama therapy can help people to be understood and can promote emotional and social well-being.”
