KEIGHLEY MP Kris Hopkins is encouraging people to visit the country's seat of power.

He issued the plea after meeting constituents Ian and Diane Smith, who enjoyed an hour-long tour of the Palace of Westminster.

Mr Hopkins said: "I was pleased to arrange the tour and I am keen to highlight the facilities offered by Parliament for both individual visitors and schools.

"I would urge residents of Keighley and Ilkley to take-up the chance of the free tours to learn more about our heritage and how our democracy works.

"The trained guides are extremely knowledgeable and the tours are suitable for everyone."

He added that school parties could also visit Parliament's state-of-the-art education centre.

And arrangements can be made for tours of the Elizabeth Clock Tower and for people to sit in the public galleries during debates.
