MEMBERS of a Manorlands support group have stood down en masse – and appealed for fresh blood to come forward.

The group, covering Silsden and Steeton, was formed in 2001 and has raised nearly £33,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice (pictured).

But advancing years and ill health have forced the volunteers to retire from their roles.

The group was joined at its final meeting, at Silsden Methodist Church, by Manorlands-based Sue Ryder senior fundraiser Andrew Wood, who thanked members for their support.

"We have been incredibly lucky to have the support of this wonderful group for so long but we respect its decision and encourage a new group to carry on its fantastic work in Silsden and Steeton, where we care for dozens of people every year," he said.

A meeting for potential new members takes place at the Robin Hood pub, in Silsden, at 8pm on Wednesday, July 27.

Anyone interested in getting involved but unable to attend the meeting is asked to e-mail sarah.harrison2@sueryder.org or contact the Manorlands fundraising office on 01535 640430.
