A WOMAN has paid tribute to her husband who died after collapsing at the wheel of his van.

Linda Hughes said the death of Kev, a much-loved grandfather, would leave a huge hole in many people's lives.

Paramedics battled to save the 57-year-old (pictured) at the scene of the accident in Greater Manchester but he failed to come round after suffering the massive heart attack.

His distraught widow of Granby Drive, Riddlesden, Keighley, paid an emotional tribute to her soulmate.

"It was just such a shock," said Linda, 58, an admin clerk with Santander.

The couple, who married 13 years ago, both hailed from Bradford and ran the Inman pub, in Lumb Lane, for four years in the 1990s.

Between them they had five sons and five grandchildren.

Mr Hughes' eldest son, known as 'little Kev', died eight years ago, just two days after his 25th birthday. The soldier had Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

"He enjoyed a good laugh and could tell a good story and he was a big Manchester United fan - he watched every game on TV," Mrs Hughes said.

In a poignant final tribute to him and his late son, the coffin at the funeral service last Friday was in Manchester United's colours and carried the word Dadio - a nickname for Mr Hughes - and the number 25.

Mr Hughes died on October 21.
