Tennis players have served-up over £400 for Manorlands.

The cash was raised through the seventh annual Lyn's Day at Cross Hills Tennis Club, near Keighley, in tribute to a former member.

Lyn Ferguson – who died, aged 37, in early 2009 after a battle against cancer – received palliative care at the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

The event featured a range of tennis-related activities, including speed serving. The fastest serve, at 75mph, was notched-up by Dennis Roberts.

Among other attractions were twister, tennis-ball decorating, sumo suits, a barbecue and competitions.

Musical entertainment was provided by singer Jonathan Crossley and Andy McColl on the guitar.

"Instead of the competitive tennis of previous years we had fun and games and social tennis and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves," said Joel Griffiths, for the club.

"The whole day was a huge success."
