A KEIGHLEY man has been jailed for four years for his part in a £5 million drugs conspiracy under the guise of a cooking oil sales business.
Shakeel Quyam, 30, of Cark Road, was part of an organised and sophisticated plot to bring cocaine, skunk cannabis, and cannabis resin into the UK, Judge Henry Blacksell at Blackfriars Crown Court through ports in Kent.
A police surveillance operation resulted in the recovery of half a tonne of herbal cannabis and cannabis resin and five kilos of cocaine from an industrial unit in Kent. The drugs had been hidden in pallets of cooking oil.
Two Dutchmen pleaded guilty to conspiracies to supply cocaine and cannabis and were jailed at Blackfriars Crown Court to 31 years between them. Quyam and three other men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cannabis.
