A RESOLUTION to regulate and restrict some of Keighley Town Council's spending will be voted on by councillors tonight.

They will be asked to decide on a proposal to limit the way two council charge cards can be used in future.

The resolution, which has been brought forward by councillors Judith Brooksbank and Gary Pedley, states that the council should have two cards with a limit of £250 each, which can only be used by the town clerk and the council's responsible financial officer.

The proposal adds: "The charge card can only be used for the top up of smart stamps and online purchases not subject to normal ordering processes, up to a maximum limit of £100 per transaction."

Tonight's vote follows concerns that a Keighley Town Council charge card had previously been "misused".

In February of this year, councillors voted to withdraw that card from service, but agreed to replace it with a new card which would have a lower spending limit and could only be used by named individuals.
