A CHILDREN’S doctor secretly filmed apparently snorting cocaine has been suspended by hospital bosses while the allegations are investigated.

Colin Ferrie, aged 51, has been suspended by the General Medical Council (GMC) which has started its own investigation into the consultant paediatric neurologist at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).

Dr Ferrie lives in Baildon, and is now under an interim suspension meaning he cannot practise until the investigation is resolved.

A GMC spokesman said: “This follows a hearing of the Interim Orders Panel (IOP) at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS). The GMC refers cases to the MPTS for IOP hearings when doctors are facing allegations where it may be necessary for the protection of members of the public, or it may be in the public interest, or in the interests of the doctor.”

West Yorkshire Police are aware of the allegations. Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has said it will investigate.
