STUDENTS in Keighley enjoyed a workshop laid on by rugby union’s national governing body which showed them how to become ambassadors for the game.

The staff from the RFU visited Keighley Campus Leeds City College to run a session for 60 sport and public services students. The visitors delivered a Young Rugby Ambassador programme for the students, enabling them to promote the 2015 Rugby World Cup in and around the community.

Learning leader Andrew Gudgeon said: “It was a fantastic afternoon and a great opportunity for our students, some of whom are now planning some great things in the New Year related to engaging people to play rugby.”

A spokesman for Keighley Campus said the new ambassadors now have opportunities to develop exciting projects. linked to Rugby World Cup 2015.

She added: “This gives them opportunities to meet new people, work as part of a team and develop skills and self-confidence.

“They can also access insider knowledge about the Rugby World Cup 2015, give something back to the game and encourage other young people to become involved in the sport.”
