COUNCILLORS have reiterated concerns about the future of a Haworth children’s centre.

At the latest Oxenhope Parish Council meeting, Councillor Rebecca Poulsen (pictured, Con, Worth Valley) updated members on Bradford Council decisions affecting Treetops, in Rawdon Road.

She said: “Treetops is in the only cluster which they would like to keep within the local authority., but it will become a site where some services are delivered, and will no longer be a Sure Start Ofsted registered centre. It’s being downgraded.

“We’re not happy with the decision.” and how it has been made.

“All the children’s centres being affected seem to be in the outlying parts of Bradford.

“They say we don’t have the same issues of poverty here but we do, it’s just more hidden in rural areas.”

Bradford Council is attempting to make £2.4 million worth of savings over the next year, but has said none of its 41 children’s centres will be shut as a result.
