PLANS to turn a vacant travel agents in Bingley into a wine and tapas bar have been submitted to Bradford Council.

Dean Loynes has applied to convert the former Thomson’s building on Main Street, opposite the town’s market square, into the bar, that he said would bring “much needed vibrancy” to the town centre.

His application says: “The unit is vacant and in disrepair and is currently detrimental to the quality of the conservation area. The proposal will restore a much needed vibrancy and vitality to this part of the conservation area which is undergoing some decline.”

If approved, the bar is expected to create around four jobs.

A decision will be made on the conversion in the new year.
