DOZENS of people took part in a successful bulb and wildflower planting session at Keighley Tarn.

A group of more than 30 school pupils from Our Lady of Victories Primary School were among the green-fingered enthusiasts who gathered beside the Tarn.

Dorothy Tennant, from the Friends of Keighley (Redcar) Tarn group, said she wanted to thank everyone who got involved with the initiative.

She added: “Andrew Chapman from Those Plant People brought all the bulbs, plants and seeds for us all to plant or scatter in various parts of the tarn. In all 1,200 plug plants, 2,000 bulbs and hundreds maybe millions of seeds were planted or scattered.

“33 lovely hardworking children from Our Lady of Victories school planted lots of the plug plants after throwing the ‘seed bombs’ they had recently prepared at school. These were seeds mixed with earth so they should germinate easily.

“All this has been achieved due to the hard work of the Friends of Keighley (Redcar) Tarn group who will be celebrating their first anniversary soon.
