A MUM completed the Great North Run in support of the hospice that cared for her terminally ill baby son.

Anna McQuaid raised £1,500 through donations for Martin House.

And about £300 in goods – which will be auctioned off for the Boston Spa hospice – were given by suppliers to Raffles jewellers in Keighley, run by her husband Liam.

He and the family travelled to the north-east to support Mrs McQuaid in the world-famous half-marathon, which she finished in two hours 24 minutes.

The cash donations included £250 from supplier Hot Diamonds.

Goods were given by Citizen, Sekonda and Lorus.

Two items of jewellery donated by Raffles are going under the hammer later this month for Martin House, where little Niall died aged just seven weeks.

The first is an amethyst and diamond pendant on lace set in silver, with lilac enamel, which retails at £225, and the other a Chamila bracelet worth £260.

The auction takes place as part of an event for the hospice at Yorkshire Cricket Club, Headingley on September 24, in which guests are invited to enjoy afternoon tea with Downton Abbey’s ‘Mr Carson’, actor Jim Carter.
