RIDDLESDEN Scouts have launched a competition to design a new flag for their village.
The youngsters hope the flag – the first for Riddlesden– will help foster community spirit.
The winning entry will be chosen by residents after a shortlist has been drawn up by committee.
The competition is the brainchild of Dafydd Jones, a young leader with the 2nd Riddlesden Scouts.
It forms part of the troop's Riddlesden ‘R’ Village campaign, which promotes community events.
A spokesman for the Scout group said: “This new project has been started in order to help create cohesion and a sense of community spirit in Riddlesden.
“Entries will be selected by a group of community members, including local business people and committee leaders.
“There will be a public vote, then the flag will be officially unveiled to the public in a ceremony in the New Year.”
Anyone wishing to enter the flag competition should e-mail riddlesdenflagcomp@gmail.com or visit riddflag.blogspot.com, or post entries to 65 Grafton Road, Keighley BD21 1LJ.
Entries can be submitted between Wednesday, October 1, and Friday, October 31.
